Matthew has over 20 years of experience in advisory with public-private partnerships in real estate and infrastructure. He has worked with national and local governments, universities, militaries, transit authorities, land development agencies, housing authorities, multinational aid organizations, and airports and seaports. His experience extends from finance to development strategy, transaction management, real estate asset and portfolio management, and deal structuring.

Matthew was a director for the global real estate firm JLL for over 10 years, working on projects across the globe. He served as an advisor to the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. State Department, Saudi Aramco, Jeddah Development & Urban Regeneration Corporation, the World Bank, the Queensland Government of Australia, and numerous municipal and national governments. In this role he developed and directed portfolio strategy, procurement of development partners, negotiation of public-private development deals, and asset oversight.

In his private consulting practice, Matthew was primarily for several years the principal advisor for the World Bank’s City Resilience Program (CRP). CRP is a program devised by the Bank to harness private capital to improve cities’ ability for resilience. This includes addressing the needs of rapid urbanization, particularly in emerging markets. As cities grow, there are unprecedented challenges in providing both general and affordable housing, improvements in infrastructure, and transportation, in addition to mitigating climate change. Mr. Hunt serves as the World Bank’s advisor on Land Value Capture (LVC), working with municipalities to determine how to best extract value from either existing or future land availability.

Having worked with the World Bank for a number of years, he was asked to help lead the CRP’s real estate and financial strategy components. Over the past 3 years Matthew has led projects across the globe, working to bring partnerships among the World Bank, national and local governments, and private capital partners. He has worked with municipal and national governments on large redevelopment programs in Morocco, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Bolivia, Colombia, Rwanda, Kenya, Romania, and Kosovo.

Matthew has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences globally on topics such as real estate strategy, finance and development, affordable housing, and LVC. Most recently he has presented in Thailand, Spain, and Kenya. He holds degrees from the University of Georgia (USA) in Biochemistry and Literature, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Emory University (USA). He speaks French in addition to English.
