About Jen
I believe the best way to build wealth is to be intentional about money choices, prioritize saving, and focus on what you can control. At the heart, I believe that ongoing planning and having a disciplined investment approach to systematically work towards your defined goals will allow you to achieve your financial dreams.
My CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation means that I stay current with required continuing education, so I can give the most up-to-date advice. I believe in bringing clients a true fiduciary experience—free from conflicts of interest with a clear and transparent fee structure. Clients deserve to know that I always have their best interest at heart and am not trying to meet some sales quota or company’s commission structure.
How I got here
I was drawn to financial planning after being an avid supporter of the Dave Ramsey courses like Financial Peace University, which has been one of my volunteering passions for many years. I started as a financial coach and ran a business to help families live debt-free lives. That led me into financial advising and investment management at Bright Road Wealth.
I attended the University of Wyoming and have an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering as well as a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering. I worked at a large engineering firm and was a project manager for many infrastructure projects in Alaska. I’ve also worked at a preschool and been a volunteer Sunday school teacher for years. It’s funny how life’s path isn’t always a straight line, which makes the financial planning part of building wealth so important. I can help guide you through life’s twists and turns and help implement a strategy to build and protect assets for the future.
I grew up in Alaska and enjoy the family life that being in a big-small town can bring. I am married to a lifelong Alaskan and also have three kids that were born in Alaska. In my spare time, I can usually be found at a hockey rink or volleyball court cheering on my kids, volunteering at my church, or helping teach science or math in the classroom. I love to travel- especially abroad. One of my bucket list items is to visit the Netherlands during tulip season to get back to my Dutch heritage. I am a self-proclaimed golf hack, museum enthusiast, and lover of vacations to anywhere warm.
Currently, I volunteer as the Finance Committee Chair for St. John United Methodist Church. I am also on the Endowment Committee and serve on the Finance Committee for the Alaskan United Methodist Conference.
